If there was one thing about yourself that you could change what would it be? When it comes to our bodies we are very self conscious. In today’s society we are all forced to look a certain wa Many of us constantly think about the ways that we can change it no matter how drastic they are. One of the biggest things that women would love to change about themselves are their stretch marks
Stretch mark is something that can affect both men and women. For some people there is nothing that they can do to prevent them. Working out, gaining weight, or even losing weight will cause them to form. Puberty is a time when the majority of people will see them appear. But pregnant women are more prone to forming them because their stomachs are growing to a large size in a short amount of time.
There are many creams and lotions on the market that claim to cure stretch marks or too diminish the look of them. But they are not always successful. Using surgery to fix stretch marks is one of the methods that has the best results of removing them. The downside to the different types of stretch mark surgeries is that they are expensive and it may take a long time for someone to recover.
Macrodermabrasion
Macrodermabrasion is a medical procedure which uses fine crystals (like sea salt) with a tretinoin cream. This combination is used to stimulate the collagen that the body produces. The downside to this procedure is that you can only go so deep into the skin before more scarring is caused. There are a few treatments that have to be done for results and each visit can cost as high as $400. The stretch marks will be reduced - but not removed completely.
Skin Resection
Skin resection is a surgical procedure in which the stretch marks are cut out. According to the majority of health experts this is the only true way to remove them. However, this type of procedure can cause different scarring and it takes a long time to recover.
Laser Surgery
Laser surgery is a method that many people will work effectively. As good as it sounds this too will cause scarring and could cause discoloration of the skin.
Fractional Laser Resurfacing
This surgical procedure is very new. During this treatment pulses of light are scattered on a small portion of the stretch marks. This creates several microscopic wounds that will stimulate growth of new collagen fibers and epithelium. This will help to diminish the look of stretch marks by 75% - but it cannot remove them.
