We have all experienced the embarrassment of talking with someone and knowing by their reaction that we have bad breath. Bad breath is a growing concern for American’s today and continues to be a growing problem with bad diets and eating habits. Just by making a few diet changes you can start eliminating your bad breath today.
A dazzling smile and great teeth are a product of healthy gums and strong teeth, which contribute to an overall more healthy you. As is with the rest of your body, water is always a great idea, and with regards to your teeth it is a benefit to use bottled water with fluoride. The water not only washes away the tiny particles of food left in your mouth, but the fluoride prevents the demineralization of the enamel on your teeth.
As with the water, generally the foods that are a positive for building a healthy body are also those that contribute to healthier teeth. Foods rich in vitamin C, magnesium and calcium such as – apples, carrots, celery produce excess saliva which helps to clean and rinse the teeth. Fruits and vegetables that are high in Vitamin C will prevent gingivitis and gum disease are a huge aid in reducing or eliminating odors causing bad breath.
A great indicator of food items that are adverse to tooth health is if it will stain a white t-shirt, then it will stain your teeth. Liquids such as wine, tea, juice and the biggest offender, coffee should be consumed through a straw to avoid staining and harming your teeth. And most people don't carry a tooth brush with them, so if you are prone to eating sweet snacks, munch on a piece of cheese to combat the sugar, and help to prevent cavities. Cheese does this by the calcium, phosphorous and protein it contains that neutralizes the plaque.
